Police Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision in Montgomery Village

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle, fatal collision that occurred yesterday evening at approximately 10:09 p.m. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene of the collision.

The driver is been identified as Immar Enrique Serpas, age 30, of the 400 block of Girard Street in Gaithersburg.

It was on April 21 at approximately 10:09 p.m. that 6th District officers responded to a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006, Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Montgomery Village Avenue. For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan Altima left the roadway at the intersection of Midcounty Highway and traveled onto the center median of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree on the median. Immar Serpas, who was the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
