Gaithersburg Man Arrested for Sex Offenses

For Immediate Release: Monday, May 7, 2012

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Family Crimes Division, Pedophile Section have arrested a Gaithersburg man for several sex-related offenses.

Today, Aaron William Murray La Mere, age 39, of the 25400 block of Jarl Drive in Gaithersburg was arrested and charged with several sex-related offenses.  La Mere had been a Media Services Technician at Northwood High School in Silver Spring until recently.

On March 14, detectives received information that a former Northwood High School employee, later identified as La Mere, was in possession of child pornography.  Investigation revealed that the laptop that La Mere used while working at the school contained numerous pornographic images of young males.

While investigating the child pornography allegations, detectives received further information that three students at the school had been victims of various sex offenses by La Mere between October 1, 2011 and February 29, 2012.  During this time, La Mere had solicited two of the victims for sex via text messages, inappropriately touched two of the victims on several occasions, showed two of the victims images of a naked male on his cell phone, and exposed himself to two of the victims.  All of the offenses occurred inside of Northwood High School.

Based on the above, an arrest warrant was obtained for La Mere, and he was arrested today without incident.  La Mere was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, four counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, four counts of committing a third degree sex offense, three counts of sexual abuse of a minor, one count of committing a fourth degree sex offense, and two counts of indecent exposure.  La Mere is currently being held on $150,000 bond and has a bond review hearing scheduled for May 8 at 1:00 p.m.
