Update: Identities Released in Colgate Way Murder/Suicide

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide/Sex Section are continuing to investigate the deaths of a 49-year-old male and his 39-year-old wife as an apparent murder/suicide.  The husband and wife were found deceased inside their apartment in the 13600 block of Colgate Way in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring.

The male has been identified as Donovan Dean Richards, and the female has been identified as Mischeel Louise Richards.

It was on May 20, at approximately 10:36 a.m., that 3^rd  District officers responded to an apartment in the 13600 block of Colgate Way in Silver Spring for a missing person call.  Responding officers met with a family member and made entry into the apartment.  Officers found Donovan and Mischeel Richards deceased, and both victims had evidence of trauma to their bodies.  Officers also located a suicide note in the apartment.

The circumstances that led to these deaths are still under investigation. Anyone who can provide information related to these deaths is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.
