Montgomery County Police Department to Participate in Warrant Clear-Up Program

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 23, 2012

The Montgomery County Police Department is joining with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the District Court of Maryland, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office, the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, and the Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation in a warrant clear-up program.  During a special weekend court session to be held on June 2nd and 3rd, the District Court of Maryland in Rockville will have extra courtrooms, attorneys, and staff available to assist residents in resolving existing warrants in a convenient and efficient manner.

If your name appears on this list, you may be eligible to participate in this special warrant clear-up program.  You MUST FIRST call the Fugitive Unit at 240-773-5370 to schedule an appointment to attend the special weekend court session.  Officers will help you make an appointment to have your warrant processed.  If you do not have an appointment for the special court session, you will be ineligible to attend.

Warrants do not have a time limit and will not disappear.  Warrants can be served 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.  If you have an unresolved warrant, you will be arrested at some point.  This special warrant clear-up program is an opportunity for you to turn yourself in on a day and at a time that is convenient for you.  If you cannot attend these dates, or if you do not qualify for the special court dates, you can still make an appointment to have your warrant served on a date that is convenient for you.  By arranging to turn yourself in, you eliminate the possibly of your arrest at home or at work.

A complete list of almost 17,000 outstanding Montgomery County criminal and traffic warrants is available here.*  If your name appears on this list, contact the Fugitive Unit at 240-773-5370 to make arrangements to have your warrant processed.

We encourage the community to provide tips on the whereabouts of wanted subjects by calling the Fugitive Unit at 240-773-5370.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or provide a tip online.
