Wimbledon Circle Shooting and Arrest

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Today, at approximately 8:07 a.m., 4th District officers responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of Wimbledon Circle in the Longmead area of Silver Spring.  Officers arrived on scene and located a 55-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.  The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived to the area.

Investigation by detectives indicated that the victim and suspect, who were known to each other, began to argue at the suspect's residence.  The suspect retrieved a handgun and shot at the victim as the victim was attempting to flee the home.  The victim was shot in the leg and was transported to a local hospital; his injuries appear to be non-life-threatening at this time.  The suspect fled the scene.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. today, the suspect was located in Northwest D.C. by Montgomery County police officers and was taken into custody.   Officers located the gun on the suspect.  The suspect is identified as Timothy Roosevelt Prue, age 48, of the 2200 block of Wimbledon Circle in Silver Spring.  Prue is being charged with attempted first-degree and attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and the use of a handgun in the commission of a violent felony.  Prue currently is being held in Washington, D.C. and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
