Yesterday evening, at approximately 9:16 p.m., 1st District officers responded to the train tracks at Randolph Road and Nebel Street for a person struck by a train.
On scene investigation revealed that a 22-year-old male and a 21-year-old female had been drinking alcohol and decided to play a "game" of running across the railroad tracks just before a train would pass. The 21-year-old female successfully crossed the tracks before the train arrived and waited for the male to cross. The 22-year-old male attempted to cross the tracks before the train passed but was struck by the train. The male was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
