Female Found Deceased in Home after Tree Fell on Home Overnight

For Immediate Release: Saturday, June 30, 2012

Montgomery County Police are investigating the death of a 71-year-old woman whose body was discovered this morning when Fire and Rescue personal responded to a call for a tree down on a home in the 10000 block of Grant Avenue in Silver Spring.

Entry was forced into the locked residence and the woman’s body was discovered unresponsive in a second-floor bedroom.  The apparent cause of death is due to a large Maple tree falling through the roof and onto her bed at an unknown time during the night.  The cause of death will be confirmed by autopsy.

The victim’s identity will be released after notification of family members.  She lived alone in the residence.

Montgomery County Police and Fire and Rescue personnel ask neighbors to check at homes where there is major tree damage and call 9-1-1 to report any concerns to check the welfare of individuals at those homes.
