Storm-related Information for July 2, 2012

For Immediate Release: Sunday, July 1, 2012

Montgomery County Police want to alert the community to the following information for Monday, July 2, 2012:

The HOV driving restrictions on Montgomery County's Interstate 270 will be suspended to facilitate the flow of traffic.

As of Sunday evening, July 1, 395 traffic signals in the County remain out.  Drivers are asked to allow plenty of travel time to work and other locations in the morning.

Police will only be able to direct traffic at some of those intersections.  Treat all dark intersections as four-way stops.  All cars must come to a complete stop and then alternate taking turns crossing.

168,155 homes remain without power in the County.  Community members are asked to check on elderly neighbors and family members.

Drivers are asked to be especially alert to pedestrians.  Pedestrians are asked to be particularly cautious as many sidewalks may be blocked by debris and pedestrian signals may be out.

Circuit Court is closed and District Court is open in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Government is open tomorrow.   All six police District stations and Police Headquarters are open.
