MCP Sees Increase in "Dog-Alongs" on the 4th of July

For Immediate Release: Monday, July 9, 2012

Officer  Yuen, a 4th District officer, was working her night shift on the 4th of July.   She stopped on the side of the road and opened her cruiser so she could get something that fell in her back seat.  Before Officer Yuen knew it, a dog, later identified as “Tiger,” jumped into her cruiser.  Tiger was very friendly and energetic, barely slowing down for a photo.  Although Tiger seemed to enjoy riding in the patrol car, Officer Yuen knew that Tiger probably had been spooked by fireworks and was not far from home.  Officer Yuen took Tiger to an animal shelter.  Luckily, Tiger had been adopted from that animal shelter and he was quickly identified and reunited with his family.

Tiger was one of three dogs located by 4th District officers on the 4th of July.

Please make sure your dog “carries” proper ID with him/her, which includes name, address, and emergency contact.
