Single Vehicle Fatality Involving a Motorcycle Investigated

For Immediate Release: Friday, July 13, 2012

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle that occurred last night.

At approximately 10:22 p.m., officers from the 6th District and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to East Village Avenue and Doubleland Road for the report of a collision.  Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious male and a black and burgundy Honda CB 750 in the roadway.

Further investigation revealed that the 46-year-old male operator of the motorcycle had been eastbound on East Village Avenue as he approached Doubleland Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle struck the left-side curb of the median after crossing over Doubleland Road.  The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree in the median.  The 46-year-old male was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  His identity will be released after family has been notified.
