New 3rd District Police Station Groundbreaking - Chief Manger and County Executive Leggett to Attend

Chief Tom Manger and County Executive Isiah Leggett will attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the new 3rd District police station today at 1:30 p.m.  The facility is scheduled to open in 2013 and will replace the current 50-year-old police station on Sligo Avenue.  Also attending the event will be Montgomery County Councilmember Phil Andrews, Maryland Senator Jamie Raskin, Maryland Delegate Thomas Hucker, and Department of General Services Director David Dise.

The tented event will be held at the construction site located at 1002 Milestone Drive in Silver Spring

Directions: Take the I-495 inner loop toward Baltimore/Silver Spring.  Take exit 30A toward Columbia to US 29 N.  Merge onto MD 650 N/New Hampshire Avenue. Turn right on Heartfields Drive (next to the White Oak Library), make the first right onto Sherbrooke Woods Lane then a right onto Milestone Drive.  Follow Milestone Drive around to the event site on the right.  Parking will be directed by police.
