Dog of the Day, Retired MCP K9 Buckley

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Hi ! My name is Buckley and I am a retired MCP K9.  I am a a Belgian Malinois and will be nine-years-old next month.  I worked as a MCP patrol K9 from 2005 to 2008 with my human partner ("Mom"), Officer Sparks.  Boy, those were the good ole' days and do I have some stories to tell ! During my time with MCP, I helped arrest a burglar, a man who assaulted a police officer, a drug dealer, and a car thief , and I helped locate a critical missing person.  During article searches, I found handguns, knives, drugs, and other crime evidence.   I still live with my human partner and my buddies MCP K9 Ben (a patrol/narcotics dog), MCP K9 Ruffy (a bomb dog), and two other Belgian Malinois.  Although I am retired from my days as a MCP K9, I still like to stay busy !  (Resting is for the birds!)  I am a certified therapy dog, and every week I visit with my friends at the Kensington Nursing Home.  I still compete in dog competitions, and in May I won first place in a dock dog speed retrieve contest in Ocean City, Maryland!  As you can see, I can still keep up with the young dogs !
