Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigates Fatal Collision in Kentlands Area of Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred tonight on Great Seneca Highway at Lakelands Drive in the Kentlands area of Gaithersburg.

This evening, at approximately 7:49 p.m., officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and the Montgomery County Police 6th District responded to Great Seneca Highway and Lakelands Drive for the report of a two-vehicle collision.  An adult female has died from injuries sustained in this collision.

At this hour, CRU continues to investigate this collision at the scene.  Southbound Great Seneca Highway is closed between Lakelands Drive and Kentlands Boulevard and this portion of the road will remain closed to motorists until CRU detectives have completed their investigation.  Montgomery County Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Further details will be made available as the investigation proceeds and next of kin notifications have been completed.
