Update: Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigates Fatal Collision in Kentlands Area of Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night on Great Seneca Highway at Lakelands Drive in the Kentlands area of Gaithersburg.

Yesterday evening at approximately 7:49 p.m., officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and the Montgomery County Police 6th District responded to Great Seneca Highway and Lakelands Drive for a report of a two vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2003 Toyota Highlander was traveling south on Great Seneca Highway.  A 1999 Black Lexus LS 400 was traveling north on Great Seneca Highway and attempted to make a left turn onto Lakelands Drive.  The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The female passenger in the Lexus was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and was declared deceased at the hospital.  The male driver of the Lexus was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and remains in critical condition.  The  female driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The male passenger of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Lexus has been identified as Seymour Baden, age 77, of the 200 block of Hart Road in Gaithersburg.  The female (deceased) passenger of the Lexus has been identified as Elizabeth Colvin Colton, age 69, of the same address.  The driver of the Toyota has been identified as Rachel Leah Weintraub, age 21, of the 13600 block of Anchor Cove Court in Rockville.  The passenger of the Toyota has been identified as George Dancer, age 25, of the 14100 block of Marianne Drive in Rockville.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.  Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.  Callers may remain anonymous.
