Detectives of the Germantown Investigative Section are investigating a burglary, theft of vehicle, and theft from vehicle that occurred in the Damascus region of the county from September 17 to September 18 during the overnight hours. Photographs have been obtained in the Damascus incidents and detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects.

These suspects are believed to have committed the following crimes:

August 31, 600 block of Hillsboro Drive in Silver Spring - auto theft (key left in vehicle)
September 17-18, 24300 block of Newbury Road, Damascus area - burglary (unlocked door) and auto theft (key obtained in home)
September 17-18, 10010 block of Damascus Hill Court, Damascus area - theft from unlocked vehicle, use of stolen credit card

During the overnight hours of September 17 to September 18, unknown suspects entered a residence in the 24300 block of Newbury Road through an unlocked garage door and unlocked side door. The suspects took items from the kitchen to include a set of vehicle keys that were left on the kitchen counter top. The suspects then used the vehicle keys to steal a 2012, black Honda Accord with Maryland registration 9BTK05 from the driveway. To date this vehicle has not been recovered.

On September 18, a stolen Subaru was recovered on the street in the 10100 block of Nightingale Street. (This location is right around the corner from the reported burglary). Due to the close proximity to the reported burglary, it is likely that the suspects left the Subaru at this location after stealing the Honda from Newbury Road. The Subaru had been reported stolen on August 31 from the 600 block of Hillsboro Drive in Silver Spring. The vehicle driver thought she might have left the vehicle unlocked and did leave a spare key in the vehicle ashtray.

During the overnight hours of September 17 to September 18, these suspects stole items from an unlocked vehicle in the 10010 block of Damascus Hill Court. The suspects took items to include credit cards. The credit cards were used at a convenience store in Gaithersburg. Detectives have obtained photographs of the five suspects at the convenience store.

Police are again urging residents to lock their vehicle and garage doors (interior and exterior) as unlocked doors are easy targets for these suspects.
