Police Investigate Death of Clarksburg Man

For Immediate Release: Monday, October 8, 2012

On October 8 at approximately 4:45 pm, Montgomery County Police Officers responded to a residence in the 23400 block of Tailor Shop Place in Clarksburg for a resident who was reportedly being violent and exhibiting erratic behavior.

Officers arrived on the scene to investigate. Officers were told that the subject had threatened two of his roommates with weapons. Officers determined that an assault had occurred and attempted to arrest the subject.  The subject became violent and resisted the arrest.  Officers used OC spray in order to gain control of the subject.

As is protocol, Fire/Rescue personnel were contacted and arrived to treat the subject’s exposure to the OC spray. After this was completed, Fire/Rescue left the scene.

A short time later, officers noticed that the subject was starting to lose consciousness and again requested assistance from Fire/Rescue. Fire/Rescue arrived and transported the subject to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division were notified and responded to conduct the death investigation.

The subject has been identified as Nathan Jones, 39 years old, of Clarksburg.
