Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Germantown

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Germantown.

This morning, at approximately 11:38 a.m., officers from the 5th District and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Frederick Road and Brink Road for a report of a personal injury collision involving two vehicles.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a gray 2005 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling southbound on Frederick Road.  A maroon 2003 Jaguar sedan was traveling northbound on Frederick Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan crossed the double yellow center line and struck the Jaguar.  The driver of the Jaguar was pronounced deceased on the scene of the collision.  The two occupants of the Nissan were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Jaguar is identified as Mai Ai Lam-Phan, age 66, of the 12900 block of Benton Park Circle in Clarksburg.  The driver of the Nissan is identified as Joshua Jose Munoz, age 19, of the 18100 block of Coachmans Road in Germantown.  The passenger in the Nissan is identified as Caleb Emiliano Munoz, age 16, also of the 18100 block of Coachmans Road in Germantown.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.  Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.  Callers may remain anonymous.
