Detectives Seek Assistance in Identifying Credit Card Theft Suspect

For Immediate Release: Thursday, November 8, 2012

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Financial Crimes Section are investigating a credit card theft that occurred last year in Olney.  At this time, all investigative leads have been exhausted, and today, detectives are releasing surveillance photos of the suspect and asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

On September 30, 2011, 5th District officers responded to an address in the 6100 block of Golf Estates Court in Gaithersburg for a report of a theft.  Investigation revealed that the 50-year-old female victim had been conducting business in the Olney area throughout the day.  She was in possession of her wallet in the morning but noticed that it was missing from her purse around 3:00 p.m.  The victim went online to her credit card account and determined that several transactions had been made with her stolen credit card in the Damascus and Germantown areas.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance photos from several of the establishments in which the credit card was used and pursued various investigative leads in an attempt to identify the suspect from the photos.  Meanwhile, the same suspect was determined to be involved in a theft of a wallet on October 20, 2011 in Prince George's County, and detectives from the Laurel Police Department were also able to obtain surveillance photos of the suspect.  MCP and Laurel detectives then worked together in an attempt to identify the suspect to no avail.  The photos below were obtained by the Laurel Police Department.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes this suspect to contact the Financial Crimes Section at 240.773.6330.
