Officer Bill Morrison Honored at 9th Annual Maryland Remembers Memorial Event

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Earlier today, the Maryland Impaired Driving Coalition hosted local law enforcement officials, representatives from the State of Maryland, and the families of those who have lost their lives to impaired driving in their annual Maryland Remembers Memorial. The event serves as a reminder of how deadly drunk or impaired driving can be especially around the holidays.

For the first time this year, the Coalition presented the Kevin E. Quinlan Memorial Award.  The award is presented in memory of Mr. Quinlan who served for 35 years with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to improve safety on our nation’s roads by combating impaired driving and educating the community of the effects of impaired driving.

Today, MCP Officer Bill Morrison was the recipient of this award.  Officer Morrison has spent most of his 28 years with the police department enforcing impaired driving laws and educating the public about the dangers of impaired driving.

Officer Morrison was one of the founding members of the Department's Alcohol Initiatives Section (AIS) 22 years ago and continues his efforts with the AIS today. Officer Morrison has also developed a comprehensive training program for prosecutors and law enforcement officials across the state to combat and effectively prosecute impaired drivers.

Congratulations to Officer Morrison for his dedicated service to the Department and the community.
