Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police–Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred shortly after midnight in Gaithersburg.

This morning at approximately 12:09 a.m., officers from the 6th District responded to Snouffer School Road just north of Centerway Road for a report of a personal injury collision. Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2001 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Snouffer School Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the Honda Civic crossed into the northbound lanes of Snouffer School Road just north of Centerway Road.  The Civic struck a 2009 Nissan Rogue that was traveling northbound on Snouffer School Road.

The driver of the Civic was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries.  The driver and front passenger of the Rogue were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic is identified as Luis Kenyo Chambergo-Chanco, age 21, of the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village, Maryland.  The driver of the Nissan Rogue is identified as Tamara Rabinovich, age 48, of the 8900 block of Alliston Hollow Way in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  The front passenger of the Nissan Rogue is identified as Sergey Petrovich Kleyman, age 48, also of the 8900 block of Alliston Hollow Way in Gaithersburg.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.  Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision and have not spoken to detectives to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773- 6620.  Callers may remain anonymous.
