Update: Arrest Made in Silver Spring Bank Robbery

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section have arrested and charged a suspect in the December 12 bank robbery of the Capital One Bank in Silver Spring.

The suspect entered the Capital One Bank located at 13301 New Hampshire Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m. and passed a note to a teller demanding money.  The note implied a weapon however none was seen.  After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the bank.  Surveillance pictures of the suspect were obtained by detectives and subsequently released to the public.

The suspect is identified as Jomo Kenyatta Crawford, age 28, of the 12900 block of Autumn Drive in Silver Spring.  On December 14 at approximately10:30 a.m., detectives arrested Crawford at his residence without incident. Detectives also served a search and seizure warrant at his residence and located evidence related to the crime.  Crawford admitted his involvement in the robbery.

Crawford is currently being held on bond and awaiting a January court date.
