Police Investigate Shooting in Aspen Hill

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, December 18, 2012

This afternoon, at approximately 4:25 p.m., officers from the 4th District, Park Police, and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to North Gate Park located at 14100 Connecticut Avenue in Wheaton for the report of a shooting.  Officers located a male victim who was suffering from a possible gunshot wound. No weapon was found at the scene. The victim­­­­­­­­­­, a 22-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in grave condition at this time.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a possible suspect was seen in the area at the time of the incident.  The suspect is being described as a black male, 5’7” tall, approximately 20 years of age, wearing a blue jacket.  Police continue to investigate this crime and are in the process of confirming details regarding the suspect description. Police believe there is a relationship or some association between the suspect and the victim.
