Theft from Vehicles in Chevy Chase - Video of Suspect Released

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Detectives from the 2nd District are investigating two incidents of theft from vehicles in Chevy Chase that are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.  A home surveillance camera captured the suspect on video.  The department is releasing video of the suspect and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On December 31, 2012, at approximately 2:09 a.m., an unknown suspect entered three unlocked vehicles in the driveway of a home in the 8600 block of Village Park Place in Chevy Chase.  The suspect did not take any items from two of the vehicles, but did take an electronic device from the third vehicle.

Between the hours of 11:00 p.m. on December 30 and 11:00 a.m. on December 31, an unknown suspect entered a vehicle in the driveway of a home in the 3700 block of Village Park Drive in Chevy Chase.  Although the contents of the car had been disturbed, the suspect did not take any items.  The owner of the vehicle did not remember if the vehicle doors were locked at the time of the theft.

Police are again urging residents to lock their vehicle doors and remove items of value as unlocked doors are easy targets for these suspects.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes this suspect or has information about these theft from vehicles to please call the 2nd District Investigative Section at 301-657-0112. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or enter a tip online. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
