Police Arrest Suspect after Sexual Assault

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 9, 2013

On January 8 at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers from the 4^th District were in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Weller Road when they observed a suspicious male follow an adult female into a nearby neighborhood.  A short time later, officers received a 9-1-1 call for a sexual assault that had just occurred in the area where officers last saw the male.

The victim was located and stated that the suspect approached her from behind as she walked down the street and touched her inappropriately before fleeing on foot. The suspect was located a short distance away.  The suspect was positively identified by the victim and arrested.

The suspect is identified as Trent Elijah Curtis, age 22, of the 2300 block of Georgian Woods Place in Wheaton.  Curtis was charged with 4th degree sexual assault and possession of paraphernalia in relation to the marijuana found on him after his arrest.  Curtis was released on bond and is awaiting a February 14 court date.
