Motorcyclist Flees Police - Crashes in Montgomery Village

For Immediate Release: Friday, January 18, 2013

Last evening, at approximately 11:28 p.m., a 6th District officer in the area of Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway observed a motorcyclist he believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  A registration check of the motorcycle tag revealed that it had been reported as stolen from this county.

The officer, who was behind the 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle on northbound Montgomery Village Avenue, activated his emergency lights on his marked cruiser at the intersection of Midcounty Highway.  The operator failed to stop and the officer pursued the motorcycle.  The operator continued northbound on Montgomery Village Avenue and after passing Wightman Road, crossed over the median strip and southbound lanes of Montgomery Village Avenue/Pleasant Ridge Drive.  The motorcycle then left the roadway and crashed.

The motorcycle operator was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.  He is identified as Neuris Perez-Victoriano, age 24, of the 1300 block of Missouri Avenue in Washington, D.C.

The officer, identified as Sergeant Robert Lumsden, a 16-year-veteran of the department, is on administrative leave (per protocol).
