Detectives from the Major Crimes Division-Robbery Section have arrested an 18-year-old male believed to be involved in last night's robbery of multiple guests at a Silver Spring hotel.

On January 25 at approximately 11:21 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Homewood Suites Hotel located at 8728 Colesville Road in Silver Spring for the armed robbery of multiple guests in a hotel room.  Preliminary investigation revealed that one female victim had rented a room at the hotel and notified friends via text that she was hosting a party at a specific room in the Homewood Suites Hotel.  During the evening, multiple guests arrived and sometime after 11:00 p.m., the host heard a knock at the door.  She looked through the peephole, observed a black male to the side of the door, and let him in the room, thinking he was another guest.  Once inside, the male produced a sawed-off shotgun and announced the robbery.  He took cash, personal items, phones, and other electronics from the eight victims.  He placed the property in a duffel bag that he had brought with him and fled the scene.

When police arrived, they developed information that the suspect may be in the area of the intersection of University Boulevard and Veirs Mill Road. Officers boarded a Ride On bus and observed a subject with the same physical and clothing description that the victims had provided. There was also a duffel bag on the seat next to him.  Police asked him to exit the bus for questioning and he did so, leaving the duffel bag behind. A search of the bag yielded a sawed-off shotgun and property belonging to the victims.

The subject was arrested and is identified as Jackson Julius, 18 years old, of the 3600 block of Bel Pre Road.  He was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and other related firearm offenses. He is being held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled for bond review on Monday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. in Rockville.
