Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of Verizon Wireless Store in Plaza del Mercado

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Robbery Section are investigating the armed robbery of a Verizon Wireless store that occurred last night in Plaza del Mercado.

On February 26, at approximately 8:07 p.m., officers from the 4th District responded to the Verizon Wireless store located at 2221 Bel Pre Road for a report of an armed robbery.  Investigation revealed that two store employees had been closing the business when two suspects entered the store.  One of the suspects displayed a handgun, forced the employees to the back of the store, and restrained them.  The suspects obtained an undisclosed number of cell phones and then fled from the store.

The suspects involved in this incident are described only as black males, both approximately 5'11".  One weighed approximately 160-165 pounds, the other approximately 175 pounds.  Both were wearing jackets and dark-colored pants.  A third male suspect may also be involved, but no description of that suspect is available at this time.
