Police Investigate Serious Pedestrian Collision on Colesville Road

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious pedestrian collision that occurred in the Silver Spring area this morning.

At approximately 9:31 A.M., 3rd District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a call for a pedestrian struck on Colesville Road near Noyes Drive.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a silver 2005 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Colesville Road.  The Honda struck a 75-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing Colesville Road from east to west just north of Noyes Drive.

The pedestrian was transported to Suburban Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  He has been identified as John Skelton Williams of the 9000 block of Sligo Creek Parkway in Silver Spring.  The driver of the Honda has been identified as Dennis Stewart, age 49, of the 9000 block of Belwart Way in Columbia.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.
