Department Reorganization

For Immediate Release: Monday, March 11, 2013

County Executive Isiah Leggett and the County Council have approved a plan for a police department reorganization. The reorganization will create a Patrol Services Bureau and will allow for the movement of some Divisions from one Bureau to another.  The plan will also create a fourth Assistant Chief position.  Through the creation of a fourth Bureau and a reassignment of some Divisions, a more equitable allotment of personnel and responsibilities will exist for each Assistant Chief.  This reorganization will take effect upon the Council’s expected confirmation the Assistant Chief nominees on Tuesday, March 12th.
