Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Clopper Road

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a school bus that occurred this morning on Clopper Road.

This morning, at approximately 6:26 a.m., 6th District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Clopper Road and Metropolitan Grove Road for the report of a personal injury collision.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a pedestrian was crossing Clopper Road just east of Metropolitan Grove Road.  The pedestrian was struck by a Montgomery County school bus that was traveling westbound on Clopper Road.

The pedestrian has been identified as George Pezdirtz III, age 55, of the 900 block of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg.  Pezdirtz succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the school bus has been identified as Telma Elizabeth Ramirez, age 57, of the 19200 block of Hempstone Avenue in Poolesville.  Ramirez remained on scene of the collision and provided information to investigators.  There were no students on board the school bus at the time of the collision.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.  Detectives are asking anyone that witnessed or may have information about this collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.  Callers may remain anonymous.
