Detectives Arrest Suspect for Multiple Burglaries in Damascus Area

Detectives from the 5th District Investigative Section have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of burglaries that has been occurring on Mountain View Road in Damascus since December 2012.

The following burglaries were reported:

  • December 9, 2012 - Pleasant Grove Church at 11225 Mountain View Road.
  • February 2, 2013 - (Attempted burglary) at the Pleasant Grove Church.
  • February 10, 2013 - 11400 block of Mountain View Road.
  • February 19, 2013 - Pleasant Grove Church.
Through the course of investigation, Steven Tyler Haines, age 19, of the 11400 block of Mountain View Drive in Damascus was developed as a suspect.  An arrest warrant was issued for Haines on February 28, 2013, but Haines' whereabouts were unknown.

On March 23, 2013, a burglary was reported in the 11300 block of Mountain View Road, and on March 24, 2013, a theft was reported in the 11300 block of Mountain View Road.

Following the theft on March 24, 5th District officers received information that Haines may be at an address on Mountain View Road.  Officers located and arrested Haines following a foot pursuit.  Upon arresting Haines, officers discovered property on him that had been stolen in the March 23 burglary.

The arrest warrant from February 28 was served on Haines following his arrest charging him with three counts of second degree burglary and theft-related charges.  Haines was also charged with an additional count of second degree burglary and theft following the March 23 burglary and the March 24 theft.  Haines is currently being held on two $100,000 bonds.
