Police Seek Public's Help in Locating Missing Gaithersburg Woman and Child

For Immediate Release: Thursday, April 18, 2013

Detectives from the 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Gaithersburg woman and her child.

Alyona Joy Mayo, age 20, was last seen at her residence in the 17100 block of Queen Victoria Court in Gaithersburg.  Mayo is described as a white female, approximately 5’6’ tall, weighing 140 pounds, with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes. (Note: Mayo's hair is now shorter than her hair is in the photo).  Mayo should be with her two-week-old daughter, Syrena Mayo.  Mayo was last seen Tuesday evening at approximately 11:00 p.m.  She left her home with her daughter and has not been seen since that time.

Police and family are concerned because Mayo functions at the level of an 11-year-old.  At this stage of the investigation there is no evidence of foul play.

Anyone with information about Alyona Mayo and/or her daughter's whereabouts is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000.
