Police Investigate Rockville Pike Pedestrian Hit and Run

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, April 24, 2013

On Friday, April 19 at approximately 9:33 p.m., 2nd district officers responded to a pedestrian struck on Rockville Pike at Cedar Lane.  A resident, who was driving on Rockville Pike, located the unconscious victim in the roadway.  Officers determined that a vehicle had struck the pedestrian and had left the scene.

The female pedestrian has been identified as Michelle Eyre De Sam, age 35, of the 9200 block of Cedar Lane in Bethesda.

Investigating officers have not located a striking vehicle and it is unknown if anyone witnessed this collision.  Preliminary investigation indicates that De Sam was crossing Rockville Pike (Route 355) from east to west and it is believed that she was in the crosswalk.  De Sam was struck in the northbound lanes as she crossed Route 355.   It was raining at the time of the collision.

De Sam was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.  She continues to recover in the hospital.
