Police Investigate Sexual Assault in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Homicide/Sex Section are investigating a sexual assault that occurred yesterday in Silver Spring.

Yesterday, at approximately 2:37 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the U.S. Post Office located at 110 University Boulevard W. for a report of a sexual assault that had just occurred.  Investigation revealed that the victim, a 21-year-old employee of the nearby shopping center, was walking in the neighborhood behind the Post Office during her lunch break when she was approached by a male subject.  The male produced a knife and forced the victim into the backyard of a nearby residence.  He then sexually assaulted the victim and fled from the area.

The suspect is described a black male, 5'6" tall, with a medium build.  He had gray and black facial hair and had several missing or broken teeth.  No further description is available at this time.
