Police Investigate Serious Single Vehicle Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a serious collision that occurred yesterday afternoon in Bethesda.

On May 7 at approximately 4:33 p.m., Second District Officers responded to the intersection of  Connecticut Avenue and Saul Road for the report of a single vehicle collision.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 GMC Savana van was traveling southbound on Connecticut Avenue.  For reasons still unknown, the vehicle left the roadway, struck the center median, and then struck a tree on the median.  There were two people in the car at the time of the collision.

Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital.  The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  The passenger was transported with life-threatening injuries and remains in serious condition.

The driver is being identified as Dawa Tamang, age 39, of the 5500 block of Dowgate Court in Rockville.  The front seat passenger is being identified as Lok Katwal, age 31, of the same address.
