Suspect Arrested for Indecent Exposure in Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Monday, June 3, 2013

Officers from the 3rd District have arrested a suspect for an indecent exposure incident that occurred last night in Silver Spring.

Last night, at approximately 8:28 p.m., a 3rd District officer was approached by a 15-year-old female who told the officer that she had been the victim of an indecent exposure.  Investigation revealed that the victim was sitting at the Metro bus stop located at the corner of University Boulevard West and Colesville Road when she noticed a male (suspect) sitting next to her.  The suspect began moving closer and closer to her on the bench until he was directly next to her.  At that time, the victim observed that the suspect's zipper was down and that he was exposing himself to her.

The victim ran from the bus stop and located a nearby police officer in a marked cruiser.  The victim provided a description of the suspect, and a lookout was placed for him.  A short time later, officers in the area located the suspect walking on Lanark Way at Lorain Avenue, which is approximately four blocks from the bus stop at which the incident occurred.

The suspect was placed under arrest and was identified as Jose Salvador Castro, age 29, of an unknown address.  Castro was arrested and charged with one count of indecent exposure.  He is currently being held on a $2600 bond.
