Suspect Charged in Series of Indecent Exposures; Additional Victims Sought

For Immediate Release: Friday, June 7, 2013

Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a series of indecent exposure incidents that have been occurring over the past several weeks in the Wayne Avenue parking garage located at 921 Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring.

On May 23, at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to the Wayne Avenue parking garage for a report of an indecent exposure.  Investigation revealed that the suspect got on to the elevator with the female victim.  He was wearing business attire and and was carrying a shirt on a hanger in front of his body.  Once on the elevator, he moved the shirt from in front of him, exposing himself to the victim.

Following this incident, detectives determined that similar incidents involving the same suspect occurred in the parking garage on May 29 and June 2.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed a suspect identified as Ryan De Leon, age 33, of the 19200 block of Misty Meadow Terrace in Germantown.  On June 5, a warrant was issued charging De Leon with three counts of indecent exposure.  De Leon was arrested on June 5 and is currently being held on a $15,000 bond.

Based on the above incidents, detectives believe that there may be additional victims of indecent exposure by De Leon that have not contacted police.  Detectives are urging anyone who believes that they have been a victim to contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at 301-565-5835.
