MCPD Investigates Fatal Collision on Veirs Mill Road

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are continuing to investigate a fatal, single vehicle collision that occurred early this morning.

This morning at approximately 3:06 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the intersection of  Veirs Mill Road and Turkey Branch Parkway for the report of a single vehicle collision.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2013 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road.  Near the intersection of Turkey Branch Parkway, the driver of the Accord left the roadway and struck a utility pole.  The driver was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver is identified as Roy V. Tjongarero, age 29, of the 15500 block of Baileys Lane in Silver Spring.
