Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section are investigating two bank robberies that are believed to have been committed by the same two suspects.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photos of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

On June 10 at approximately 12:23 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the TD Bank located at 19501 Frederick Road in Germantown for the report of a bank robbery.  Investigation revealed that two suspects entered the bank.  The first suspect approached a teller while the second suspect met with a bank greeter.  The first suspect passed a note that demanded money and implied that the second suspect had a gun.  The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash, placed the money in a bag that he had brought with him, and both suspects then fled from the bank.

On June 19 at approximately 11:08 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Suntrust Bank (in the Safeway store) located at 15411 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring for the report of a bank robbery.  Investigation revealed that two suspects entered the store. The first suspect approached a teller at the bank while the second suspect stood by.  The first suspect passed a note demanding money.  The note implied that the second suspect had a gun.  After receiving cash, the suspect placed the money in a bag that he had brought with him and both suspects fled from the bank.

Based on video surveillance obtained from the two robberies and based on modus operandi (method of operation), detectives believe these robberies were committed by the same two suspects.

The first suspect is described as a black male with a muscular build.  In the second robbery, he was wearing a gray t-shirt, black pants, and a dark-colored baseball hat with a light-colored rim.  The second suspect is described as a black male, who is bald and has a medium build.  During the second robbery, the second suspect was wearing a black, Under Armour t-shirt and dark-colored pants.
