Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Suspects in 2007 Kidnapping and Sexual Assault Investigation

For Immediate Release: Friday, August 16, 2013

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Cold Case Squad are continuing to investigate a kidnapping and sexual assault that occurred in April 2007.

On April 15, 2007, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a then 18-year-old female was walking in the area of Georgia Avenue and Randolph Road when she was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun.  The suspect demanded money from the victim and then forced her into a nearby vehicle with two additional suspects.  The suspects restrained the victim and drove her to the vicinity of the 14500 block of Avery Road.  The suspects then sexually assaulted the victim inside of the vehicle.  Following the assault, the suspects released the victim and fled on Avery Road towards Southlawn Lane.

After the suspects released her, the victim began walking on Avery Road where she was observed by a passing citizen who contacted police.  Police located the victim, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for medical care.

Prior to releasing the victim, the suspects had stolen her wallet.  The suspects subsequently used the victim's debit card at a Bank of America ATM.  Detectives obtained surveillance photos of the suspects from this ATM.

Today, detectives are re-releasing the surveillance photos of two of the suspects and asking for the public's assistance in identifying them.

The suspects were described as:

  • Suspect 1 - Hispanic male, early 20's, approximately 5'6" tall, medium build, medium-dark complexion; short, black hair and a thin, mustache/goatee.  He was wearing a black, Northface jacket, a short-sleeved, button-down shirt with square design, a hooded sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans, and black shoes.  He was armed with a silver handgun.
  • Suspect 2 - Hispanic male, early 20's, approximately 5'8" tall, medium build, medium-dark complexion; a thin mustache and a dimple.  He was wearing sunglasses, a black sweater, a hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans.  His teeth were noticeably crooked.
  • Suspect 3 - No description available.
The vehicle involved in this incident was described as a black or dark-colored, four-door, compact vehicle with a dark interior.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes either of the suspects or who has information about this incident to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
