Police Investigate Fatal Collision on Georgia Avenue

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred yesterday afternoon in Wheaton.

Yesterday, at approximately 1:55 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the area of Georgia Avenue and Henderson Avenue for a report of a personal injury collision involving a pedestrian. Investigation revealed that a silver 1999 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue.  The female pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Georgia Avenue in a marked crosswalk.  The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to Suburban Hospital and was expected to survive.  While at the hospital, however, her condition deteriorated, and she succumbed to her injuries early this morning.

The pedestrian involved in this collision is identified as Barbara Jean Green, age 70, of the 100 block of Pierce Street, NW, Washington, DC.

The driver of the vehicle is identified as Miriam Rose Parizer, age 91, of the 15300 block of Pine Orchard Drive in Silver Spring.  A passenger in the vehicle is identified as Eva Maria Burger, age 88, of the 3300 block of N. Leisure World Boulevard in Silver Spring.  The driver and the passenger were not injured.
