Identity Confirmed in Potomac River Drowning

For Immediate Release: Friday, September 6, 2013

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division are investigating a drowning that occurred in the Potomac River on Monday, September 2 at approximately 8:00 p.m.

The victim, identified as Mark Moore, age 22, of Odenton, Maryland was located on Thursday, September 5 at approximately 5:45 p.m. and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Montgomery County Fire Rescue units, along with Montgomery County Police search and rescue officers, had conducted a joint search operation since Monday.  Today, detectives were able to confirm the victim's identity.
