Detectives Investigate Assault in Wheaton - Composite Released

For Immediate Release: Friday, September 13, 2013

Detectives from the 4th District Investigative Section are investigating a 1st degree assault that occurred on September 10 and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

On September 10, at approximately 10:05 p.m., 4th District officers responded to Montgomery General Hospital for a report of an assault that had occurred earlier.  Investigation revealed that, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the 36-year-old female victim had been jogging in the 1700 block of Poplar Run Drive.  As the victim passed the suspect on the sidewalk, the victim was thrown to the ground and struck in the face.  The suspect held the victim down on the sidewalk until he heard the victim's boyfriend (who had been nearby) approaching the area.  The suspect then fled on foot.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male in his late 20's, 5'7" tall, and weighing approximately 165 pounds.  He had medium-length, wavy, black hair and no facial hair.  He was wearing a gray hoodie over a white t-shirt, black basketball shorts, and sneakers.

Today, detectives are releasing a composite of the suspect and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying him.  Anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity is asked to contact the 4th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5530.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
