Fatal Collision on Montrose Road

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred this morning.

Today at approximately 9:06 a.m., Montgomery County and Rockville City police officers responded to Montrose Road and Tower Oaks Boulevard for the report of a personal injury collision. Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2006 Toyota Highlander was traveling east on Montrose Road and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Tower Oaks Boulevard.  As the Highlander was turning, it collided with a Ducati 848 motorcycle that was traveling west on Montrose Road.  The motorcycle operator and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle caught on fire.

The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  He will be identified when next of kin are notified.  The motorcycle passenger, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  She will also be identified at a later time.  The driver of the Toyota Highlander, identified as Peggy Lee, age 52, of the 11300 block of Old Club Road in Rockville, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
