Robbery Suspects Arrested in Silver Spring

Officers from the 3rd District arrested two suspects following a robbery that occurred on October 4 on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.

On October 4, at approximately 1:45 a.m., a 3rd District officer was on patrol in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road.  The officer observed a male subject throwing unknown objects at an apartment window above the El Sitio Restaurant.  The subject was in the company of two other males.

The officer continued to observe the group as they began walking on Piney Branch Road.  At the intersection of Piney Branch Road and Dale Drive, two of the males began to assault and attempt to rob the third male (the subject who had been throwing objects at the window).

As the officer approached the group, one of the suspects began running.  After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.  The second suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the robbery.

The two suspects were identified as Carlos Bosque, age 28, of the 8300 block of 14th Avenue in Hyattsville and Edgar Cruz, age 27, of the 8200 block of 14th Avenue in Hyattsville.

The victim was a 27-year-old male from Silver Spring.

Bosque and Cruz were both charged with attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, second degree assault, and conspiracy to commit second degree assault.  Bosque is currently being held on a $25,000 bond; Cruz is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
