MCP Lieutenant to Receive Community Service Award

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 9, 2013

On Friday, October 11, Lieutenant Demitri C. Kornegay, Deputy Commander of the 1st District Station, will receive a community service award for developing and running Men Under Construction, a free rites-of-passage program that teaches principles of leadership, responsibility, self-initiative, and self-respect.  The program has been in existence since 1992.  The award is being presented by the Galilee Community Development Corporation in recognition of their 10th anniversary.

Lieutenant Kornegay's Men Under Construction program has previously received two additional community service awards in 1996 and in 2009 from the J. Franklyn Bourne Association, an organization committed to legal excellence, community service, and the advancement of African American minorities in the legal profession.
