Six Suspects Arrested on Firearms and Drug Charges

For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 17, 2013

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Firearms Investigations Unit (FIU) have arrested six suspects from Gaithersburg and Germantown on firearms- and drug-related charges.

In July 2013, FIU detectives received information from the 1st District Investigative Section regarding photos of firearms and drugs posted on an individual's social media pages.  Based on this information, FIU detectives and the Quince Orchard School Resource Officer (SRO) launched an investigation into this suspect and several additional suspects.

On October 11, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Special Investigations Division (SID) detectives and the Quince Orchard SRO conducted a traffic stop in the area of Darnestown Road and Muddy Branch Road on a vehicle which was occupied by several of the suspects under investigation.  Information developed from this traffic stop indicated that another suspect was currently in possession of firearms and marijuana.

A search warrant was issued and executed at a residence in the 12300 block of Triple Crown Road in North Potomac by the SWAT team, 6D-DCAT, and SID detectives.  The SWAT team entered the residence to find a suspect, later identified as Darel Gettier, armed with two handguns.  Located inside of the residence were 45 firearms, a large quantity of marijuana, and 7 subjects smoking marijuana.
