Detectives Investigate Bank Robbery in Gaithersburg; Photos Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Gaithersburg on November 11.

On November 11, at approximately 6:30 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the SunTrust bank located inside of the Safeway store at 12251 Darnestown Road for a report of a bank robbery.  Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached the counter, and handed a note to the teller claiming that he had a gun.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled out of the Safeway store on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'6" to 5'8" tall, and weighing approximately 170 pounds.  He was wearing a black and gray jacket, a black and white ski hat, and gloves.

Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photos of the suspect and asking for the public's assistance in identifying him.
