Detectives Investigate Homicide in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that occurred this afternoon in Gaithersburg.

On November 21 at 2:28 p.m., patrol officers from the 6th District and the Gaithersburg Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 438 N. Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg.  Officers located an adult male on the sidewalk in front of the building.  The victim was suffering from one or more gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing two suspects leave the area on foot.  One suspect was described as a black male with a black and white striped shirt.  The other suspect was only described as a black male wearing all black clothing.  The neighborhood and surrounding areas were searched by patrol officers and K-9 teams with the assistance of a Maryland State Police helicopter but the suspects were not located.

The identity of the victim will be released once it is confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  Tips received through the Crime Solvers program may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.  Information can be submitted anonymously by phone or online.
