Arrest Made in Gaithersburg Homicide

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division have charged a man with First Degree Murder in connection with a homicide that occurred in Gaithersburg on Thursday afternoon.

On November 21 at 2:28 p.m., Michael Kirby Alvarado, age 25, was shot and killed at 438 N. Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg.  Based on their investigation, Major Crimes Division detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Friday for a Silver Spring man and information was developed that the suspect was in the Silver Spring area.  Last night at approximately 8:00 p.m., the suspect was arrested as he attempted to flee from a vehicle that detectives stopped.

Detectives have charged Jefferson Daniel Delgado, age 20, of the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring with First Degree Murder.  Police believe that Delgado and Alvarado knew each other although the exact nature of their relationship is still under investigation.  The investigation into other suspects is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
